Computer monitoring
Employee Computer Monitoring for Managed Company Devices
Know which work computers are enrolled and reporting, and understand the activity and application patterns on them — governed by your organization's policies, not by hidden agent defaults.
When company computers become a blind spot
As devices spread across offices and home workplaces, basic questions become hard to answer.
- Which company computers are actually in use, and who are they assigned to?
- Has a device stopped reporting, or is it simply switched off?
- Which applications run on work computers across the fleet?
- How can company computers be monitored without installing invasive, hidden tools?
Device-first visibility, policy-controlled collection
Each Windows computer is enrolled with a short-lived, single-use package and receives its own cryptographic identity. The agent authenticates as the device — never with an employee's credentials — and regularly reports its status and version.
What a device may collect is decided by the policy that applies to it, at organization, location, department, team, employee or device level. Activity and application signals are linked to employees only through an explicit device assignment managed by administrators.
What you see with computer monitoring
Enrollment and status
Enrolled, reporting and inactive devices, agent version and last check-in in one console.
Device assignment
Assign devices to employees with history, so activity is attributed to the right person for the right period.
Work activity signals
Active and idle state changes on the device, without recording keyboard or mouse input.
Application patterns
Foreground application names and website domains, with organization-defined exclusions applied on the device.
A transparent agent on every computer
Computer monitoring must never mean hidden software. The SmarterMetric AI agent is designed to be visible, governed and removable.
See how SmarterMetric AI approaches security and privacy- Installed as a visible Windows service and listed under installed apps.
- Authorized administrators can stop, revoke and uninstall it.
- No stealth techniques, process hiding or security-software bypass.
- Local queues are encrypted before upload; device keys never leave the device.
From installation to visibility
Create an enrollment package
Generate a single-use, short-lived package for the device in the admin console.
Install the Windows agent
Run the installer as an administrator; the device registers itself and receives its configuration.
Assign and observe
Assign the device to an employee and review status, activity and applications within policy.
Typical scenarios
IT teams
Maintain an accurate inventory of enrolled work computers and their reporting state.
Remote and hybrid teams
Understand activity patterns on company laptops used at home, under the same policy as in the office.
Management
Get a fleet-level view of how company computers are used, without collecting personal content.
Frequently asked questions
Is this time and attendance software?
No. SmarterMetric AI observes activity on managed computers. It is not a time-and-attendance or access-control system and does not replace payroll records.
Which computers can be monitored?
Company-managed devices running Windows 10 (1809+) or Windows Server 2019+ (x64). macOS and Linux agents are planned.
Does the agent use the employee's login?
No. The agent authenticates as the device with its own cryptographic key. Windows usernames are never treated as employee identity.
What happens when a device is revoked?
Revocation takes effect on the device's next request; the agent can no longer upload data or receive configuration.
Can certain applications be excluded?
Yes. Application and domain privacy exclusions are applied on the device before any data is created, so excluded items are never uploaded.
